Who knew that the same Fun Is Good philosophy—with a touch of edge and humor—could work in not just one market , but in markets, large and small, all across the country?  Veeck Advertising Professionals, led by the man with the name, has taken the “Fun Is Good” approach and applied it to the marketing and advertising of minor league baseball clubs all over the nation.  And it has worked.  Why?  The reason is simple—no matter where they are from or where they now live, at the end of the day—people just want to laugh.

Most advertising agencies are born in corporate boardrooms around a conference table with dozens of lawyers adding their “whereas”, “hitherto” and “successors and assigns” jargon.  Not so with Veeck Advertising Professionals.  Mike Veeck and Roger Gaither formed their partnership in VAP at a tiny little Charleston watering hole late one winter night after several adult beverages. Rather than calling in the attorneys, Mike and Roger shook hands and toasted their partnership with another tall cool one.

Mike Veeck brings his “Fun Is Good” concept and immense creativity to the business.  Roger Gaither, with his on-air personality and radio programming experience, manages to corral all of that fun and creativity into the final production that reaches YOU—the audience! Though initially a two-man show VAP has added Stacy Danosky, who brings her wealth of experience and creativity.  In addition, VAP occasionally calls upon creative minds such as Al Fahden, Andy Nelson, Andy Hunt and John Chitwood to join the band.

The most prestigious award bestowed every year is the American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award.  This award was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.  In 2007 it was awarded to our very own, Mike Veeck!

In addition, the agency took away three nods for their work:  Bronze Medal:  Charleston RiverDogs “Dog Days” (:60/Radio); Bronze Medal:  Charleston RiverDogs “Dave Around Town” (:30/Television); Bronze Medal: Fort Myers Miracle “Anchorman” (:30/Television).

Mike and his cast of characters have no plans to slow down anytime soon.  Until every baseball stadium is sold out every night of the year—they’ll be there to blur the artistic lines between “dirty” and “foul,” and “Boston” and “Brockton,” to make fans think, laugh, and head to the nearest ballpark!
